NBA Jam: Tournament Edition is a two-on-two basketball game featuring NBA teams and their star players. Up to four players can compete together in these matches. Tournament Edition ups the ante of a regular basketball game with its ultra sped-up “Juice Mode” and power-ups that incite “monster dunks” and bombs that send players to the ground. The Game Boy port was released in 1995 and developed by Torus Games.

Version Information

NBA Jam: Tournament Edition is an updated edition of NBA Jam originally released for arcades in 1993. The first Tournament Edition, released in 1994, was also developed for arcades but was ported to various home consoles in the following years including the Game Boy, Genesis, SNES, Sega Saturn, and Playstation. The Tournament Edition updated the player roster to reflect the most recent season and added new features including substitutions, power-up codes, a tag-mode enabling control of whichever teammate has the ball, randomised court “hot spots” that inflict special effects when scoring from them, and players getting injured when shoved, requiring subbing to recover.
