MTV’s Beavis and Butt-head is an adventure game developed by Torus and released on the Game Boy in 1999. You start at school as Beavis, trying to get out of detention to meet Butt-head in the park, and much of the gameplay is focused on dodging or spitball-attacking enemies, finding items, and completing tasks, which include playing dodgeball, delivering a burger, and freeing a gang leader from prison. Some of these levels draw on locations from the TV series. During a sequence that takes place in the sewers, the game shifts from a semi top-down perspective to a 2D platformer, while mini games are also scattered throughout the game’s nine levels. The game overall is very short and can be completed in under an hour.

Version Information

The Game Boy game bears no relation to the Beavis and Butt-head games developed for the SNES, Genesis, and Game Gear five years prior in 1994 and sharing the same title. These earlier versions, while all released around the same time, also differ from one another though they share a basic narrative premise.
